Meridian 59 is an online role-playing game (RPG) where the player gets the opportunity to communicate with hundreds of other online players in a virtual gaming world. The game offers various exciting RPG elements, for example a player is allowed to wield swords and shields besides cast spells with the purpose of defeating horrific monsters, run quests for citizens of different towns, discover areas whilst searching for adventure, and create a unique character that can be easily recognized by others for his or her unique heroic actions. The game lets the players make new friends, though one will have to face adverse enemies as well. But overall this will be a fun filled experience in a fantasy world.

The graphics and sound quality of Meridian 59 : Evolution are far from cutting edge, but overall satisfactory. The game offers sufficient visual detail to draw out "Gross!" and "Cool!" when suitable and the environment sounds like wind, fountains, screaming monsters and adventurers makes you feel as if you are actually present there.

In-game MIDI music match ups to each area the player enters and amazingly sets the mood for basic activities like fighting monsters, hanging out in Tavern, selling goods etc. Though the appearance of the game is undoubtedly dated, but one can not deny that it doesn't detract the players from the gaming experience.

Distinct from many other RPG's Meridian 59 offers very limited playing field. Until a player reaches 30 hit points, dangerous places are off limits to him and even after this limitation is removed, he will find that he won't be able to last long unless he remains close to the major three cities, which are Tos, Barloque and Cor Noth.
